HCMC marks 40 years' anniversary

A special art program marking the 40th anniversary of the day that Sai Gon- Gia Dinh was renamed President Ho Chi Minh was held in the area of President Ho Chi Minh City’s Statue in front of the municipal People’s Committee and Nguyen Hue Walking Street last night.

Attending the program were Secretary of HCMC Party Committee Dinh La Thang, former HCMC Party Committee Secretary Le Thanh Hai, the city People’s Committee Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong, Deputy Standing Secretary of HCMC Party Committee Tat Thanh Cang, the municipal Party Committee Deputy Secretary, crowded local residents, domestic and foreign travelers. 

The program was divides into three parts.

In the opening part, memories, the famous artists described emotion and hallmarks of Uncle Ho giving the city via the performance of songs, music and stage shows.

The second part mentioned initiative documents about rename Sai Gon – Gia Dinh to Ho Chi Minh City; the city people’s memories and emotions giving for Uncle Ho; valuable materials about renaming the city in 1976.

The end of the art program highlighted changes and development of Ho Chi Minh City in multi- fields of economy, education, culture, society, science & technology and others during 40 years ago.
