HCMC People’s Committee Chairman visits SHTP businesses

The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong on March 6 paid a visit to several companies sited in the Saigon Hi-tech Park (SHTP).

Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong first came to USM Healthcare, a factory specializing in medical equipment with 100 percent domestic capital. Representatives of the plant suggested that the city continue the stimulus program to support businesses regarding bank interest rate when they wish to expand their project.

The company also recommended that the municipal authorities should introduce policies to allow guarantee on preferential loan for efficient enterprises while encouraging public ones to prioritize the use of domestic products made by science-technology companies. Another suggestion was that the city leaders financially support companies in purchasing hi-tech products and approaching international markets on hi-tech medical equipment, invest in a testing center in accordance with international standards on hi-tech medical equipment.

Attentively listening to those suggestions, Chairman Phong promised to carefully consider them in order to proceed with feasible ones. He also hoped that USM Healthcare could focus on the domestic market and then expand to the South-east Asian region when possible via researching on new products and diversifying product lines as well as developing proper hi-quality human resources.

Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong then visited other companies like Saigon High-Tech And Engineering One Member Co., Ltd, a middle-sized company specializing on electronic parts manufacturing and hi-tech mainboard design; Minh Nguyen Industrial Support Joint Stock Company, specializing on hi-tech plastic and metal components, injection molds for plastic and metal products.

Representatives of Minh Nguyen Co. suggested that the city should stabilize accommodation rental cost for experts, allow the company to lease land to build houses for its workers, and extent the loan time of the stimulus package.

Chairman Phong highly appreciated all achievements of the company, especially in the support industry, greatly contributing to the general development of this industry in HCMC. He recommended that the enterprise should try to do business with Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) companies.

Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong finally paid a visit to Samsung HCMC CE Complex, listened to proposals of the company on helping it to transform to a manufacturing business, reducing conditions and responsibilities it takes when conducting research on new products, and improving the transport facilities to and fro the enterprise.

Delivering his appreciation to all contributions of the company to reduce unemployment rate in the city, Chairman Phong promised to do his best to aid them and hoped that they can apply high technologies in manufacturing qualified products for the domestic as well as international markets.
