HCMC to upgrade worst flooded streets

The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has tasked the Department of Planning and Investment and other authorized agencies to work with Vingroup Company on improvement of some roads, that have been badly flooded and congested after heavy rains and high tide.

Initially, Vingroup will advance VND1.1 trillion (US$48.94 million) to improve Nguyen Huu Canh street in Binh Thanh district, build a riverside road from Ton Duc Thang Street to the road beneath Saigon Bridge and broaden Ung Van Khiem street.
 
These are among the worst inundated and jammed streets after heavy rains, regularly followed by traffic jams afterwards.
 
The expansion of Ung Van Khiem street will shorten travel time from Tan Cang Seaport and downtown HCMC to Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
