Health sector asked to construct hospitals

Speaking at the meeting to mark the National Physician Day (February 27), Hua Ngoc Thuan, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee called on the health sector to help construct hospitals around the gates leading to the city to help ease pressure on large hospitals in the city.

The construction projects should begin no later than October 2 and the health sector must also raise the training standards of medical workers for the future. Moreover, the Department of Health should control the clinics in districts and not the local people’s committees.

Thuan praised the health department’s performance over the past few years in fighting against dangerous pandemics like cholera and dengue fever, reducing the birth rate by 0.1 percent and diminishing the ratio between male and female babies.
