The Saigon High-Tech Park (SHTP) project was approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee on March 15, 2006.
In between 2006 and 2010, the park will achieve some objectives, such as attracting new investments in five key technological fields, assembling the scientists and experts for the five important laboratories, producing high-tech products bearing the “made in SHTP” name, reaching the production value of US$4.5 billion, and the total export revenue of US$ 3.5 billion.
Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Le Thanh Hai said SHPT will be developed on the foundation of five key policy directions.
The first issue is infrastructure investment. A Joint Stock Company for building SHTP’s infrastructure will have to be established immediately, according to the chairman. One of the most important tasks is to make the park’s land generate profit.
For the second, “human resources”, there was a suggestion that the SHTP’s Management Board will be able to employ competent people who do not have Ho Chi Minh City residential certificate and have a preferential wage policy to attract skilled workers from the private sector.
The other issues needing the special attention include incentive policies for investors, the State management mechanism for the park, etc.
