Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) has plans to attract international universities to set up campus or associate with schools in the City. It aims to make HCMC an advanced training center in Southeast Asia.

The HCMC Standing Party Committee and Viet Nam National University - Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) have had a discussion on measures to enhance their cooperation in the coming years.

At the working session, the Committee asserted the city’s responsibilities in building and developing VNU-HCM. Also, the Committee will be ready to support VNU-HCM in any aspects within its ability and power.

Ho Chi Minh City will become an advanced training center in Southeast Asia.
For the time being, the Committee assigns the HCMC Standing People’s Committee to consider VNU-HCM’s petitions on site clearance, infrastructure construction, upgrading of roads leading to the university, and construction of science centers and laboratory centers.

VNU-HCM will research and propose to the Government and the Ministry of Education and Training a project on inviting international prestigious and famous universities to set up campus or associate with schools in Ho Chi Minh City, said VNU-HCM.

The City and VNU-HCM will jointly create good conditions to attract investment, and try to make HCMC an advanced training center in Southeast Asia.

To build more dormitories for students by 2010, VNU-HCM is campaigning for help from localities whose students are studying at the Universities.
