The charitable program is being organized by Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper to raise funds for the poor and social policy beneficiaries ahead of the upcoming Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday in February.

Director of the HCM City Food Co. Ltd. Huynh Cong Thanh said the company will also donate VND300 from each kilogram of rice sold from January 24-28 to the charitable program.

On the days leading up to the Tet holiday, the price of 60 percent of food products for sale will be decreased by 10-15 percent, said Thanh.

In spite of increasing rice prices ahead of Tet, the company has said it will not raise the cost of its rice.

The HCM City Food Co. Ltd. says it ensures the quality of its rice and posts prices throughout local FoocoMarts where the grain is sold.

SGGP has also coordinated with the Vissan Company and Anh Luan Co. Ltd. to organize a trip to offer gifts to 30 social policy beneficiaries including 18 Heroic Vietnamese Mothers in Cu Chi District.

Earlier, SGGP offered gifts to 120 social policy beneficiaries in the central province of Phu Yen, worth VND500,000 each.
