Actress Kim Cuong who is a deputy chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Association in Support of Disabled People and Orphan Children and benefactors yesterday sponsored a mass wedding ceremony for 40 sightless, physically disabled couples in the city.
The career education association in HCMC organized the ceremony yesterday. Some of the couples are greyheaded and others are not able to see but their faces expressed happiness when they tied the knot amid much fanfare and celebration.
Of 40 couples, more than 10 brides and brooms are totally blind and many of them are on wheelchairs, said the career education association. It is scheduled to organize mass wedding ceremony for 20 couples but 40 couples registered to partake in.
Each participant couples were presented a pair of engagement rings by the organizer. Moreover, they enjoyed free marital services, including bridal gowns and suits, make-up, bouquets and cars and each couple received a VND7 million (US$313.3) bank account.
