“Meet The USA 2017” conference promotes US investment in Vietnam

The “Meet The USA 2017” conference bringing the provincial leaders and U.S. companies together was held in Ho Chi Minh City on June 7.

The event themed “How to Continue Growth in U.S.-Vietnam Trade Relations” was organized by The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the U.S. Consulate General, and AmCham Vietnam.

Attending the event were  Politburo member and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee cum Secretary of HCMC Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan; Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Economic Affairs Cao Duc Phat; Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong.

There were Mr. Ted Osius, U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam, U.S. Embassy in Vietnam; Jonathan Moreno, Chairman, AmCham Vietnam – HCMC; Mary Tarnowka, Consul General, U.S. Consulate General; and representatives of government officials, enterprises, and media of both countries.

The meeting aimed to share U.S. companies’ successful stories and projects they have been done, and their development plans in Vietnam with top leaders from 21 provinces and officials from several Ministries. The event’s key subjects highlight IT, smart city, renewable energy, waste solutions, healthcare, education and others.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan reviewed Vietnam’s significant achievements and economic development after 30 years of the 'Doi Moi' (renewal) process. He affirmed that the municipal authorities will always create favorable conditions for American businesses and give them thorough support.

On the same day, Secretary of HCMC Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan and Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong hosted a reception  for heads of Vietnamese representative agencies abroad in the 2017-2020 tenure.

Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong on June 7 also hosted a reception  for Mr. Ted Osius, U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam.
