Quality management systems and tools are helping enterprises to improve their manufacturing lines while minimizing mistakes and risks or waste.

Participating in the National Quality Awards for 20 years and being the winner in 2017, Deputy General Director Truong Cao Cuong of Thinh Phat Cable Joint Stock Company proudly shared that this national award is the honor of any receiver and the confirmation that the winning business has chosen the correct direction. He added that thanks to the participation and the effort to meet all the 7 criteria of the award, his company has gradually perfected itself and increased its competitiveness in the market.

Recalling the experience to prepare products for the export to Australia, where the temperature can reach minus 25 degree Celsius, he commented that years of training for the award and the application of performance improvement tools allowed his employees to timely research and update the product in order to overcome that harsh weather. The result is that Australia is now one of the major markets of the company.

Statistics of the HCMC Department of Standards Metrology and Quality, any businesses that observe the management system ISO 9001: 2015 all witness a revenue increase by 30 percent to 50 percent to the previous year. The rate of loyal customers in these companies also reaches over 80 percent. What is more, the cooperation among departments in the company is much smoother thanks to transparent responsibility allocation.

However, at the moment, many enterprises are still wondering about the true benefits of implementing these quality improvement tools in solving operation issues. Some are even confused about which tool is the most suitable for them.

To help answer this question, the HCMC Department of Standards Metrology and Quality organized 922 training sessions to popularize and instruct interesting people on how to build and apply modern management systems in their businesses, what benefits the National Quality Awards as well as performance improvement tools can provide.

These sessions have so far attracted 38,530 participants, 719 of which have already been supported to apply those tools into reality. Many quality management systems like ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 14001, IATF 16949, ISO 13485, OHSAS 18001, GMP, 5S, Kaizen, ISO 22000, ISO 50001 are successfully introduced to those in need.

In 2018, the HCMC Department of Standards Metrology and Quality basically established model businesses with high performance, which would receive financial support to expand their management systems and quality monitoring tools so that others could visit and learn from them

It is planned that in the end of 2020, HCMC will have 20 such enterprises, where modern quality management and improvement systems such as 5S, KPI, ISO 9001, ISO 14000 are used. They will receive a financial aid of VND15 million each time per day (approx. $646) in order to participate in training and propaganda sessions, along with money to form a piloting model for others to visit.
