The Vietnam Student Association in Ho Chi Minh City yesterday launched a campaign named “Xuan tinh nguyen” (Voluntary Spring) 2016 with the participation of nearly 31,000 students.
This year, the campaign lasting from January 10 to February 6 mainly takes place in HCMC’s 5 suburban districts, islands and border crossing, hospitals, social centers, dormitories, bus stations, and dormitories for workers.
The highlights of the campaign will be wrapping 1,000 stuffed sticky rice cakes for social centers, giving gifts to students from faraway provinces who will stay in dormitory in Tet holidays (Lunar New Year) and take free-of-charge photos for low-income families.
The most interesting point of this year’s campaign is that more foreign students who are studying in the country also take part in the activities. At the launching ceremony, young people donated blood, visited mothers who partook in the country’s revolution and wrote letters to soldiers stationing on islands.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, deputy head of the Commission for Mass Mobilization of the city Party Committee Tran Kim Yen said that contributing to building city more beautiful is a good tradition of the city's young people .
