New wharf for int'l arrivals suggested in city

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has just submitted a document to the city administration to build an international guest wharf in Nha Be River in District 7.

The new wharf is expected to have a gross tonnage of 50,000 GRT (101,500 cubic meters).

The plan has come about as the previous port project for HCM City for 2010 and vision until 2020, approved by the government, required the guest wharf be built at the center of Khanh Hoi Terminal, belonging to Sai Gon Port.

However, the earlier planned wharf is upstream of Phu My Bridge while the height from the river’s surface to the bridge limits wharfs to below 42,363 GRT.

If being built at Khanh Hoi, an international guest wharf would also affect the height from the surface to Thu Thiem 4 Bridge that is also downstream.
