Nhieu Loc-Thi Nghe canal more cleaner

Ten years since start of the Nhieu Loc-Thi Nghe Canal Water Cleaning Project, almost 98 percent of the task is complete with contractors rushing to fully complete the last stages before Tet Lunar New Year.

Flowers and ornamental trees have been planted on roads along the canal to add greenery to the area and tall street lighting has been installed on both sides of the canal.

Roads along the canal have been expanded to a 16m width to reduce traffic congestion.

The Ho Chi Minh City Environmental Sanitation (Nhieu Loc-Thi Nghe Basin) Project has a capital of over US$ 300 million, of which most comes from ODA resources of the World Bank.

The project aims to resolve flooding problems in districts 1,3,10, and Phu Nhuan, Tan Binh, Binh Thanh and Go Vap Districts, as well as improve the aesthetics of the Nhieu Loc-Thi Nghe canal.
