Oil Tanker Capsizes in HCM City, One Dead

An oil tanker capsized early Monday morning while navigating from Vung Tau to Ho Chi Minh City. One sailor was killed, but the remaining four crewmen were rescued by locals.

Tanker BV 0234 of the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Petro Trading and Transport Enterprise overturned just after midnight on the Long Tau River in Can Gio District on the outskirts of Ho Chi Minh City.

Rescue workers found the deceased crewmember in the capsized ship’s cabin at 9 AM Monday morning.

The oil tanker with a capacity of 95 tons was carrying no oil on the trip. The cause of the accident is being investigated.
