Power consumption beats record in HCMC

Power output consumed on April 21 reached 73.3 million kWh, marking the highest level ever and topping the peak consuming level in the dry season last year when the city used nearly 70 million kWh a day, reported the HCMC Electric System Moderation Center yesterday.

The highest capacity was 3,727MW recorded at 2 p.m., it was 3,552 MW in the last dry season.

Long lasting heat wave has sent households and businesses in the city to intensify using electric devices such as fans and air conditioners. However the national power grid has been capable of meeting demand without power blackouts.

The center forecast that the consumed output will reach 78 million kWh a day in May which is the driest time annually.
