Residents, visitors flock to downtown HCMC to enjoy firework displays

Tens of thousands of residents and visitors last night flocked to the downtown area in HCMC to see firework displays in celebration of the 44th anniversary of the Liberation of South Vietnam and National Reunification Day (April 30) and the 133rd anniversary of May Day (May 1).


This year, HCMC let off firework at three places comprising two high-range displays in Saigon River tunnel, District 2 and Landmark 81 building, Binh Thanh and a low range one in Dam Sen Park, District 11.

The expenditure for the firework displays was mobilized from social sources.

Besides firework performance, street lightning and music programs were also organized in Nguyen Hue walking street and cultural centers in districts to serve holidaymakers.

In related news, the management board of tourist sites in the southern city of Vung Tau said that the number of visitors to the city reached 147,000 on April 30 taking the total number to 345,000 during four days of the holiday.
