The Ho Chi Minh City Party Standing Committee on May 28 appointed Nguyen Tan Phong as the new Editor-in-Chief of Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper.

Welcoming the appointment of the new Editor-in-Chief at a ceremony were Nguyen Van Dua, Deputy Secretary of HCMC Party Committee; Than Thi Thu, member of the Standing Committee and head of Propaganda and Training of the HCMC Party Committee; Tran The Tuyen, out-going Editor-in-Chief of SGGP; and other members of SGGP editorial board.
On behalf of the HCMC Party Standing Committee, Mr. Dua congratulated the new Editor-in-Chief, saying that the HCMC Party Committee would always support and create favourable conditions for him to fulfill his important and responsible task at the newspaper.
He hoped that Mr. Phong and all members of SGGP editorial board would work towards developing SGGP Newspaper, for it to go from strength to strength and to meet the high expectations of the HCMC Party Committee and the newspaper’s readers.
On his part, Mr. Phong thanked the HCMC Party Standing Committee for their support and trust in appointing him to this new position.
He promised to coordinate with SGGP editorial board members to develop and grow the newspaper.
Nguyen Tan Phong was born in 1964. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Literature degree in Marxist-Lenin philosophy.
