Saigon Co.op makes fresh move to support city's farm produce

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and supermarket chain Saigon Co.op on Thursday signed an agreement under which the latter will put on it shelves the city's farm produce.

Saigon Co.op will give agricultural cooperatives including Phuoc An in Binh Chanh District, Nga Ba Giong in Hoc Mon District, Tho Viet and Tan Phu Trung Safe Vegetable Manufacturing Group Union in Cu Chi District an advance of VND6 billion (US$300,000) to help them bring their products into the chain of Co.opMart supermarket.

The Saigon Co.op Mart system and Co.op Food sell around 10 tons of fruits and vegetables per day. The cooperation will create a stable market and help HCM City to stabilize prices.
