Second metro route project breaks ground in HCMC

The Ho Chi Minh City Management Authority for Urban Railways and Hoa Binh Construction and Estate Corporation--investor and main contractor of the second metro route Ben Thanh-Tham Luong in Ho Chi Minh City--started construction of an office building and other auxiliary works at Tham Luong depot on Thursday.

The eight storey office building is expected to be built in 16 months at a total cost of VND173 million (US$8,000). It is the first bid that has been started of the second metro route project.
 
Ben Thanh-Tham Luong metro route stretches 11.7 kilometers with 11 stations. The project is expected to complete by 2020 to serve 80,000 passengers per hour.
