SGGP seeks to help typhoon-affected children return to school

Sai Gon Giai Phong has launched a campaign to help students in flooded areas go to school in the aftermath of the devastating Typhoon Ketsana in the central and Central Highland provinces.

The campaign is aimed at raising funds to repair schools and buy books and other study aids for pupils and students.

Quang Nam and Quang Ngai Provinces alone have seen their education infrastructure suffer losses of more than VND200 billion (US$11.1 million).

More than 3,000 classrooms in Quang Nam and 400 in Quang Ngai have been badly damaged and school equipment, teaching aids, books, and other items destroyed.

Local authorities are mobilizing resources to repair the schools so that students can return soon but they badly need outside support.

Contributions can be made to SGGP’s Community Program Section, 438 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City.

The contact number is 38340018 and SGGP’s bank account number is 310.10.000231438 at the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam’s HCM City Branch.
