Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Program docks in HCMC

Delegates from 10 ASEAN member countries and Japan on ship for Southeast Asian Youth Program received  warm welcome from thousands of Vietnamese young people when they arrived in Cat Lai Port, HCMC yesterday evening.

The welcome ceremony was organized by Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, the city’s People’s Committee and  Communist Youth Union committee in the city.

In friendly atmosphere, a Singaporean delegate shared: “The trip is so wonderful. Your country’s weather is so beautiful. I deeply love your country as well as the Vietnamese people and life style; specially, I love Vietnamese traditional costume- Ao dai”.

On the same day, 329 delegates from the ASEAN member countries and Japan including 10 delegates from Vietnam paid a courtesy visit to the city’s leaders in the City Hall. In the evening yesterday, they enjoyed a dinner party and a culture exchange program with the city’s young people.

The ship has docked in Ho Chi Minh City on November 17- 21. During the. four-day tournament, international young people will visit some points of interest as Ho Chi Minh City Museum, Ben Duoc Memorial Temple and Cu Chi Tunnels; enjoy water puppetry; and experience home-stay at 14 the city’s districts to learn about life, cultural beauties of Vietnamese people.

Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Program is a cooperative program between 10 ASEAN member countries and Japanese Government since 1974, aiming to strengthen friendship and diplomatic relations among countries.

This year marks the 14th time that HCMC Youth Union has welcomed ship for Southeast Asian Youth Program.
