The Ho Chi Minh City’s major water supplier Saigon Water Corporation (Sawaco) Tuesday took responsibility for the polluted water over the last few days in several areas of the city.

In a report, sent to the city authorities, Sawaco also demonstrated reasons for the condition.
Accordingly, districts of 7, 8 and Nha Be earlier received water from Tan Hiep Water Plant. Since June to August 2010, the supply was changed to from BOO Thu Duc Water Plant. As a result, Sawaco decided to regulate water sources from Tan Hiep to other areas.
The regulation process caused a disorder of the water currents inside the pipelines, peeling dregs, which caused yellow and even black water in some portions of districts 8, 12, 10, 11, Binh Tan, Tan Phu, Tan Binh, Go Vap and Thu Duc.
To cope with the issue, Sawaco has cleaned the water pipeline system and the water quality was found much improved as of September 6.
