Terror, Sabotage Ruled Out in HCMC Airport Fire

The Southern Airport Authority has said that yesterday’s fire at Ho Chi Minh City airport does not seem to be an act of terrorism or sabotage.

The blaze broke out at 3 am at Tan Son Nhat Airport’s domestic terminal. It took firefighters who rushed to the scene two hours to bring the fire under control.

The fire broke several windows, destroyed souvenir shops, and damaged the waiting hall. No injuries were reported but the terminal has been closed since.

Deputy director of the Southern Airport Authority, Tran Doan Mau, had said that the fire was caused by an electrical fault in the departure lounge.
An investigation into the mishap is continuing.
