The more than VND2.3 billion raised from the walk will be handed over to the Fund for the Poor to support Districts 7, 8 and Nha Be and Binh Chanh Districts of HCMC and to the HCMC Fund for Football Talent, a HCMC Television charitable fund.

Lawrence S. Ting Charity Walk was first set up in 2006 as an annual event by the Phu My Hung Joint Venture Company and municipal departments in response to a program for the poor launched by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee.

The annual walk has attracted more than 97,000 people, over the last seven years, and helped raise nearly VND11.5 billion for the poor in the city.
