Around 6,000 people joined a walk in Ho Chi Minh City on May 24 to raise funds for providing free heart surgeries to poor children. The event collected VND 3.8 billion (US$ 214,000).

The organizers - youth unions and the Association in Support for Poor Patients - received VND 3.8 billion from Solvay Vietnam company, the city’s Trade Cooperative Union, fund manager Vina Capital, and NGO East Meets West Foundation.

The money will be handed over to the city’s association for heart surgeries for needy children.
