Water supply firm finally set to come online

The Thu Duc Water Supply JSC will supply 100,000 cubic meters of water a day from the end of March 2009.
A two-year wait is set to end for Ho Chi Minh City residents after the Thu Duc Water Supply Joint Stock Company (TDW) promised February 23 that it would begin to supply 100,000 cubic meters of water a day from the end of next month.

It should have begun to supply water to the city system in August 2007 but South Korean contractor Hyundai Rotem Company failed to deliver, giving rise to thousands of complaints from unhappy consumers.

Five contractors and a pipe supplier were chosen to replace Hyundai Rotem.

The company will lay the 1.7 kilometer pipeline section in District 2 next month before beginning to pump water into the Saigon Water Supply Company network.
