Russia hands over four helicopters to Laos

The Lao army received four helicopters Mi-17 repaired by Russian Helicopters at a ceremony held at Wattay airport in the Lao capital of Vientiane on July 12.

At the transferring ceremony, Chief Executive Officer of Russian Helicopters Andrei Boginsky said the choppers were repaired by experts of Russia’s 356th aircraft repair plant at Wattay airport

Also at the event, a crew of the Lao Air Force performed a demonstration flight in a repaired helicopter.

The repaired aircraft were ordered by the Lao army in 1997.

At the ceremony, the two sides discussed the purchase of new helicopters and further cooperation in the area of service support for the old aircraft. 

The Lao Air Force has more than 20 civil and military helicopters produced by Russian Helicopters. In addition to Mi-8/17 type helicopters, the country operates medium utility Ka-32T helicopters.-VNA
