Thailand remains the world’s largest rice exporter, said president of the Rice Exporters Association of Thailand Charoen Laothammathat on September 1.

He revealed that Thailand exported 6.41 million tonnes of rice in the first seven months of 2017 to secure its leading position.

Thailand is followed by India and Vietnam in terms of rice export volume respectively, he added.

Earlier the same day, the Thai government approved 2.2 billion USD in loans and aid to farmers to help stabilise rice prices, source from Vietnamnews.
