US says its Yemen embassy closed after Al-Qaeda threat

SANAA, Jan 3, 2010 (AFP) - The American embassy in Yemen closed on Sunday in response to ongoing Al-Qaeda threats to attack US interests, an embassy statement said.

"The US Embassy in Sanaa is closed today, January 3, 2010, in response to ongoing threats by Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) to attack American interests in Yemen," said the statement posted on the embassy's website.
