Police seize more Sua timber in Quang Binh Province

According to Major Dinh Kim Tu, head of the economic crime unit under the Bo Trach District Police Department, at about 7pm on May 30, police officials detected a truck carrying away 656kg of Sua timber from Van Trach Commune of Bo Trach District.

The owner of the truck was 41-year-ld Tran Thi Hoa from Phuc Trach District, who admitted that she was paid by a group of seven people to transport the timber out of the commune.

Around 10pm of the same day and on the same route, the police again uncovered another truck that was illegally transporting 799kg of Sua timber.

The truck’s owner Vu Van Thieu, from Bo Trach District, declared he was hired to transport the timber to the northern region.

All the timber is suspected to originate from the three Sua trees that were chopped down in Hung Tri forest inside the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park.

In related news, the Police Department in Bo Trach District has held five people in custody for stealing Sua timber from the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, said Le Xuan Ban, deputy head of the police department on Thursday.

The five arrested are 43-year-old Nguyen Ngoc Hoan, 42-year-old Nguyen Van Hieu and Nguyen Van Cam, 30-year-old Nguyen Van Cuong and 25-year-old Ho Van Phuong. They all are from Bo Trach District.
