The economic police in the northern province of Thanh Hoa are carrying out an investigation of pangolin smuggling.

31 pangolins hidden in truck carrying aquatic products

Before, on May 14, the anti-smuggling units belonging to the economic police stopped a truck of 47 year old driver Vu Trong Hung at Nguyen Vien Bridge in Dong Hai Ward in Thanh Hoa Town for checking.
Through searching, police discovered 31 pangolins weighing 122.3 kg in foam containers in addition to 14 tons of fish and variety of aquatic products.
Driver Vu Trong Hung confessed to transport the pangolin and products from the central province of Nghe to the northern province of Quang Ninh for consumption. To cope with police, the driver kept 31 pangolins with aquatic products in containers.
Economic police today gives the pangolins to the provincial forest rangers to release into the wild.
