CAAV asks to fight smuggling

Upon the case that pilot and flight attendant of the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines were arrested in S.Korea for gold smuggling, Lai Xuan Thanh, head of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) yesterday ordered verification.

Vietnam Airlines Corporation was asked to oversee and implement effective measures to prevent abusing position to smuggle commodities and property. The corporation ought to report to CAAV before April 21.

Moreover, the Aviation Administration Sector in the North Vietnam was ordered to check its procedure in a bid to discover loopholes that pilots and flight attendants will exploit for smuggling.

CAAV said it has contacted South Korean related agency about the case but it has not received official document, yet.
