Customs officers seize over 4kg elephant tusks

Customs officers at Tan Son Nhat Airport in HCMC yesterday detained a 62-year-old Vietnamese woman who touched down on a flight from Africa because she illegally brought nearly 4kg of elephant tusks, nine tails, claws and three sets of leopard skin.

The illegal haul was cleverly hidden in her luggage worth an estimated VND2 billion ($88,000). Informed before, customs officers discovered the amount of tusks and skin above. 

Further investigation will be carried out to find out the ring. 
As per initial statistics, in one month, the Customs in Tan Son Nhat Airport and related agecnies have detected and seized smuggled items including rhino honrs, tusks and pangolin worth over VND10 billion.
