The Superior People’s Court in HCMC yesterday rejected appeal and upheld death sentence to former bank official Vu Quoc Hao and his accomplice for embezzlement and deliberately violating State regulations on economic management causing serious consequences.
Vu Quoc Hao is former director of Finance Leasing Company No. 2 (ACL II) under the Vietnam Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development and his accomplice Dang Van Hai is former chairman of the management board of Quang Vinh Construction and Trade Company.
According to the first instance verdict, Hao and Hai discussed and signed fake contracts to conduct financial lease and buy hydraulic crawler cranes to appropriate VND120 billion (US$5.38 million) of ALC II.
