Police in Hanoi and their counterparts from PC49 arrested ten people exploiting sand from rivers, five sand dredging boats and 533 cubic meter of sand on May 21.

Before, police from PC49 detected that several people took advantage of the bordering section between Van Ha Commune in Hanoi’s Phuc Tho District and Trung Ha Commune in the northern province of Vinh Phuc’s Yen Lac District.

Drivers of sand dredgers are from Bac Ninh, Bac Giang and Hai Duong provinces.

Illegal sand dredging has ‘eaten away’ kilometers of river in the province and poses a risk that the situation may worsen.
