Ministries determined to crack down on fake fertilizer, pesticide

Vietnamese Minister of Public Security General Tran Dai Quang yesterday sent an urgent document to managers of departments of police asking police forces to curb the sale, transportation and consumption of fake fertilizer and pesticide nationwide.

As per the document, police force should liaise with related agencies under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and market management force to increase information of regulation to people and encourage residents not to produce and consume copycat products as well as not to use preservatives in industry sector to replace the counterparts in food sector and not to use banned substances in animal feed manufacture and fishery.

Police force will investigate the import of fertilizer, pesticide, plant protection substance, food preservatives and animal feed to uncover buying low-quality products into the country in time; accordingly, police can handle fraud. Police officers in localities will issue harsh penalties to violations in manufacturing, selling and consuming fake or substandard products in husbandry and fishery.
