New guideline on food safety management

The ministries of Health; Agriculture and Rural Development; Industry and Trade issued a guideline on food safety management starting on May 26.

As per the guideline, one firm producing one product will be under control of one ministry. In case that one firm making two products, one of which is under the control of the Ministry of Health (MoH), the Ministry will be in charge of the product’s quality.

If one firm manufacturing various kinds of products under the management of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) and the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MIT), MARD will hold the responsibility of checking the products.

A business to sell various commodities including markets and supermarkets will be under the management of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Also the guideline says that MoH will supervise manufacturers of food package; however, MoH can be active in launching supervision on food safety at manufacturers and businesses.
