The Government Office has announced that Prime Minister Phan Van Khai assigned the Ministry of Public Security to determine responsibility of individuals and agencies which unjustly prosecuted and arrested Ms. Pham Thi Trung Thu in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong.

Ms. Thu, former chief accountant of the Ba Thang Hai Enterprise under Cat Tien District’s Party Committee in the province, was arrested in 1992. Later police set her free because of lack of evidence.

She lost her job, and has brought her case to various State organizations to claim for compensations but in vain.

In late 2005, the Ministry of Public Security discovered police and the People’s Prosecution Bureau of Cat Tien District had seriously infringed the procedural process in the arrest of her.

Prime Minister Khai wants individuals and organizations making the mistakes to be responsible for this. He also requires compensations for Ms. Thu.
