Police Break Two Drug Rings

Viet Nam police have wiped out two major drug trafficking rings in Quang Ninh province after months tracing criminals in the north.

Police officers searched a hotel room Friday in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province, and arrested Hai Phong City resident Nguyen Van Phuc, who had two heroin bars with him.

Phuc told the police about the other drug traffickers in his ring and officers immediately arrested Nguyen Thanh Chau, who had brought heroin from Lai Chau Province to Hai Phong.

Phuc said he delivered heroin to a Chinese man called A Sap. Another man in the ring, Nguyen Van Lung, also from Hai Phong, was arrested Sunday in Quang Ninh while attempting to go to China.

The next day, police arrested another member of the ring in Hai Phong, seizing a bundle of evidence as well. On the same day, the police detained five more members of the ring, one car, two heroin bars and three motorcycles.

Tracing another ring, the police now also hold Do Minh Hoa in custody. He lives in Hai Phong, buying heroin in the city and selling it in other locales in Quang Ninh. The police said the drug addict Hoa is the leader of a major and well-organized drug ring.
