Police uncover man using forged custom seals, documents

Police in Ho Chi Minh City have proposed to the City People’s Procuracy to prosecute 30-year-old Nguyen Duy Tan for forging custom seals and some documents, so as to illegally transport goods from a port.

According to police investigation, Tan was hired to pass through customs by a Binh Thanh District based company, with a lot of second hand goods brought in from Japan, worth about US$6,000.

Tan made counterfeit custom seals and documents which helped him to skip procedures required for custom declaration, and illegally transported the goods from Cat Lat Port in District 2.

Customs officials later uncovered the fraud when the container was being transported out from the port.
