Ten tons of tusks, pangolin scales seized in Tien Sa port

Police officers in Da Nang, their peers from the Ministry of Public Security, border guards and customs officers conducted a check of imported commodities of Thien Truong Su Company in the central province of Nghe An’s Quy Hop District on October 4.
Ten tons of tusk and pangolin scales were discovered to be hidden inside recycled plastic bags in container with number sign MSKU 0147717.
The container was imported from Nigeria into Vietnam through Tien Sa port.
Pangolins are endangered animals whose scales are falsely believed to have medicinal qualities in some Asian countries. Vietnam has banned import of tusk and pangolin scale for years.
