Vietnam strictly investigates railway bribery, Japan’s Foreign Ministry

At a meeting with leaders of Vietnamese ministries to debate measures for prevention of corruption in transport projects funded by Japan’s Official Development Assistance, the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs representatives said that Vietnamese Government quickly reacted to investigate and clarify the case by inspection and detention those who were involved in the case.
 
In March, the Government instructed clarification of the bribery charge at Vietnam Railways after Japan Transportation Consultants, Inc. (JTC) admitted to bribe Vietnamese officials to win contracts for the Urban Railway Route No. 1 in Hanoi.
 
The project is funded by the Official Development Assistance from Japan.
