800 Hectare International Airport to Be Built in Phu Quoc

The Government has officially given Kien Giang Province a go-ahead for the construction of an international airport in Phu Quoc District, according to Mr. Truong Quoc Tuan, Provincial Party Committee Secretary of Kien Giang Province.
 
It is built on an 800 hectare area and capable of servicing Boeing 767 aircraft. As scheduled, the first stage of the construction is between 2006 to 2010. The anticipated cost is from VND2,500 to 3,000 billion, and the transport capacity is from one million customers a year.

Three corporations of the U.K., Germany and the US, and big local businesses have shown their interest in the project and the government is considering the best contractor.
