Agricultural development needs to mobilize business resources

Investment attraction policies on agriculture and rural development has brought some certain results but the huge resource from businesses, that play a significant role in the field’s sustainable development, has not been mobilized, said chairman of the General Association of Agriculture and Rural Development Ho Xuan Hung in Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesday.
The policies’ implementation has affirmed the role of businesses in the phase 2010-2015. However, their investment level has been insufficient to create considerable changes in economic and labor structures and farmers’ income.
The number of investors in this field has accounted for only 0.96 percent of the total number of businesses nationwide, of these, 3 percent is foreign firms. Investment capital holds 1 percent and labor use occupies 2.3 percent.
