Agriculture in the Mekong delta province of Ben Tre gradually takes off as it has had eight key agricultural products.

The news was released at a meeting held by the provincial party committee yesterday to review 10 implementation of the resolution on agriculture, farmers and countryside,
The province has set up 67 cooperative groups helping to raise farmers’ income from VND10.14 million in 2008 to VND31.15 million in 2017.
Through ten years, the province has made achievements thanks to concerted efforts of the party committee, People’s Council and People’s Committee which have issued document on the government’s rural development plan, building key agricultural product chain as well as encourage residents to start their business.
Moreover, the government build giant paddy fields, transfer technologies in the field of agriculture. Local enterprises are encouraged to invest in agriculture.
Additionally, it focused on exporting labor, providing vocational training and assistance to production. Many examples of effective business models have been spread.
Through implementing resolutions, agriculture- forestry- and fisheries production has seen changes; people transferred to grow and raise productive animals and trees. Initially, specific districts of growing rice, coconut, fruits, fish are set up.
Rice and sugar cane fields are shrinking and residents started to growing coconut and high productive organic fruit trees with high price to meet GAP standard for local consumption and exports.
