Amendment suggests more benefits for health insurance holders

An insurance amendment offers additional benefits for patients with health insurance, said Tong Thi Song Huong, director of the Department of Health Insurance.

The guidelines include insurance companies to give full coverage for patients paying an equivalent to six months of salary for five years.

Insurance companies will also give full coverage of hospital fees for families in poverty and 95 percent discount on health insurance.

The amendment will give two options for unregistered walk-in hospital patients: either 20 percent coverage or none at all.
