Anti-Corruption Board Announces 2007 Action Plan

Viet Nam’s Anti-Corruption Committee released its 2007 action program on Tuesday in the closing session of an important conference on fighting corruption and wastefulness.

Mr. Truong Vinh Trong, deputy chief of the committee and also Deputy Prime Minister, said the board will tighten inspection on the handling of major corruption cases which arouse public concern and speed up the inspection process of scandals.

The committee will examine ministries, State agencies and organizations in fighting against corruption and wastefulness.

The board will speed up the drafting of regulations on giving and receiving gifts and gift reporting. There will be rules on how long after in term office officials are allowed to do business in the areas they used to be in charge of. The Anti-Corruption Committee will also work on a plan to supervise incomes of high ranking officials.
