ASEAN must prioritize transport agreements: minister

He was speaking at the 28th ASEAN Senior Transport Officials Meeting (STOM) in Hanoi, attended by representatives from 10 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries.

Roads, railways, seaways and airways all play a significant role in building the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), Minister Dung said.

The three-day meeting, running until December 9, focuses on planning cooperative programs and projects related to the transport sector.

In addition, treaties and agreements are expected to be signed during the meeting on airway matters and the investigation of seaway accidents.

On December 12, the 15th ASEAN Transport Ministers Meeting (ATM 15) will open in Hanoi.
