Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum closed

The 27th Annual Meeting of Annual Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF-27) was closed yesterday after four working days.

The conference approved 43 draft resolutions following 14 resolutions, which were proposed by member countries of APPF- 27, and issued Siem Reap 2019 Joint Declaration.  Vietnamese National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and heads of delegations respectively signed a common statement and agreed to hand over Chairmanship of APPF- 28 to the Australian Parliament. Speaking at the closing ceremony, Cambodian National Assembly Speaker cum President of the APPF- 27 Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin stressed that the approved resolutions aimed to solve regional issues such as peacekeeping, rights of women and girls, counter-terrorism and cybercrime prevention, impacts of climate change, human rights, cultural and tourism values, regional trade and investment cooperation.  Additionally, he believed that active results of APPF- 27 would contribute to solving common challenges, building peace, cooperation and sustainable development in the region and the world.

APPF will continue to play an essential role in encouraging member countries to implement the approved resolutions at the APPF-27, added the Cambodian NA Speaker.
