Ba Ria- Vung Tau to build Long Son petrochemical thermal power plant

The project aims to reduce the power shortage and improve the power supply in both southern region and Ba Ria - Vung Tau province in the period of 2020-2030.

Long Son petrochemical thermal power plant is expected to be built in Long Son commune of Vung Tau city on an area of 132 hectares with its capacity of 3.600MW.
Accordingly, General Electric Corporation 3 under Vietnam Electric Group is a main investor. Total investment capital costs US$ 4.39 billion.
Port of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and three turbine manufacturers designed with capacity of 3.5 million tons per year and 2x600MW respectively will also be built in a period of 2019- 2025.
As plan, Long Son power plant will provide 21 billion kWh a year for the national electrical grid system, contributing to the national budget about VND 4.1 trillion per year after it will be put into the operation.
